Tragic story  of Moniruzzaman

Mohammad Moniruzzaman was born in 1965 of Village Lasker Para, District- Narial, Bangladesh. His father Daoud Molla is a well established farmer. Moniruzzaman leads a comfortable life by the income of cultivating his land and earns a handsome amount by working in Transport Association Co. He established his leadership in the community and used to participate in local arbitration for mitigating and solving disputes.

One day he was coming from a local Bazar with his neighbor. On their way his neighbor was attacked by a group of terrorist and they shot him dead. He was overwhelmed with the situation. The terrorist had previous enmity with his neighbor.

He was the only eye witness for the brutal murder. Killers targeted him to finish the only eye witness. They were looking for the opportunity.

Killers tried to compromise with the victim’s  wife by giving money and asked Moniruzzaman’s  to negotiate. But he ignored.

They made false friendship with Moniruzzaman so that he will not suspect them. Two years have passed with their mutual living.

On 4th April 2007, he was requested by them to attend a arbitrary meeting at 7.30 P.M . Moniruzzaman went there and started discussion with them. He did not understand that he was in trap. All on a sudden two of them jumped and laid him down in the ground. Moniruzzaman tried to protect him but failed as he was alone. Two of  them started chopping at random in his body. Suddenly he suppressed one killer on his chest very strongly and saved his chest by holding him. So that the terrorist could not chop his upper part. They chopped his two legs, hands, fingers and lower parts of the body. By Miracle one hand of the killer was separated by their knife who was grabbed by Moriruzzaman.

Hearing his shouting many people came over the spot. Moniruzzamna was senseless and seemed he was dead. His whole body was blooded. Moniruzzamna’s family heard the news and rushed him to Khulna orthopedic hospital. His two legs were amputated and got treatment there. His condition was deteriorating and finally he was advised to shift National orthopedic Hospital, Dhaka for better treatment. He had been there for four months and got surgical operation for his hands and 45 stabbing wounds. One of the Doctor of the Hospital told him to go to Nalta Prosthetic & Orthotic Center for artificial limb fitting for his two legs. Accordingly he came to our center on 15 November 2007 .We made two below knee fittings for him . Now he can walk independently and able to maintain his daily work.

On 11 June 2006, he was going to Satkhira from Kaligonj by riding a Motor bike along with 2 friends. After sometimes their bike was going parallel with a speedy truck. At the same time a three wheel auto van was coming from the opposite direction. Suddenly the Van pushed our bike. All of 3 persons fall down from the bike and went under the running truck. The trucks wheels were very heavy and high sized. So there was a big gap between trucks chassis and road. The unfortunate bike driver went under the right wheel of the truck and died instantly. He received the invitation letter and attended in our rally ceremony. He was astonished to see many disable persons there. Some of them were playing , participating in many sports program. He could not believe himself that an amputee person could walk with prosthesis. He was so excited and mentally determined he will have a prosthesis and walk again.

Kamolesh got a better life

Mr. Kamoles Bishaws is a smart young boy. Age about 24.Komoles is the last son of three brother and sisters.

Every People have deferent plan to build up his life. As well as I have some plans to carry up me. I wanted to complete my study first and then will be a businessman. But an accident damaged my all planes and makes my family disabled. My family condition became like as hands to mouth. Because of economic weakness my parents closed my study.

One day, early in the morning I was going to buy fishes by Engine Van at Karal Bazar. I took a seat by the side of the Driver. The market is more than 25-km distance from my house. After 8 to 10 km, I thought driver feels sleepy. Suddenly the van hit with a tree by the side of road. The frame/chases of the van broke and hit forcedly on my right leg. Then and then, my leg separated from below knee and hanging it with skin.

Then father brought me at Kolkatta, India. But all kinds of efforts failed. Doctors operated my leg from Below Knee. We stay Kolkatta more than one and half month. All of my father savings expended for my treatment. Even he sold his land properties. Now we are landless, wreathless and penniless .
December 2003 Rotary club Khulna made prosthesis for me. But its measurement was not right. Hight and weight was more. I could not walk for a long time.
Upa-Zila Executive Officer of Batiaghata, Khulna called on me and sent me to Prof. Dr.A F M Ruhal Haque. Fortunately Prof. Haque went to Batiaghata to distribute relief for SIDR affected people (2008).
I met with him and explained my situation He advised me to have a prosthesis with free of cost from Nalta Hospital.
Accordingly Mr. Komoles went to NHPOC on April 2008. We made prosthesis for him.
My family depends on my grocery shop income. Thanks Prof. Ruhal Haque and Nalta Prosthetic Center that they made me a prosthesis and I went back to a normal life. At least I am running a small grocery shop with my fitted prosthesis. I can walk without any support and this is my satisfaction.
